We poop.

No escaping it!

This chart has been around for a very long time and we greatly appreciate it's simplicity.

The guide was developed by the Bristol Royal Infirmary—a hospital in Bristol, England—developed a visual guide for stools. It is called the Bristol Stool Form Scale.

POOPING IS MEANT TO BE EASY!

As you can see there are two types of stools that are the "happiest" Type 3 and Type 4. 4 is the holy grail of poop.

Type 1 and 2 can indicate dehyrdration, insufficient fibre and slow "transit time" (taking too long to digest your food).

Type 5, 6 and 7 can indicate fast "transit time", irritation of the gut lining, nutrients not being absorbed as the liquid is still in the stool (Nooooooo!), food allergies and bacteria issues - bacteria are responsible for some important digestion processes.

So check yourself people!

We like to boil this down to an even simpler 4 step check:

1. Stinky?

2. Sinky?

3. Strainy?

4. Sloppy?
